The latest cohort of Policy Academy Fellows to complete the programme have gained valuable skills and knowledge to support their interaction with policy and policymakers across a wide spectrum.

Sector-leading development

Established in 2016, the University's Policy Academy aims to increase the impact of our experts.

It seeks to:

  • embed engagement with policy and policymakers into activities
  • support colleagues to engage with local, national and international policy
  • enhance knowledge and grow our level of interaction with policy

Through an in-depth series of one day training sessions, participants gain a broader perspective on policy impact and develop an awareness of collaboration opportunities with many organisations.

It also provides opportunities to develop the confidence to apply these skills to a variety of opportunities, which already have, and will lead to career progression.

Policy engagement network

This year's Fellows were from a mix of faculties and units, at different career stages, and made up of both academic and professional staff. This helped to form a friendly and collaborative network, which in turn further enhances and encourages policy engagement and career development.

The Policy Academy Team are very grateful to those colleagues who have supported the delivery of this programme - our policy ambassadors, along with supporters in partner organisations across the region and nationally who provide their time and insights with great enthusiasm.
