Our work is changing the energy landscape
Work led by Professor Sara Walker and her team is changing the energy landscape. Sara is Professor of Energy, and Director of the Centre for Energy, in the School of Engineering. She is also Director of the EPSRC Hub on Hydrogen Integration for Accelerated Energy Transitions.
We take a cross-disciplinary approach and work with industry and local partners. This helps us support government and policymakers to lead the way in reaching net zero by 2050.
Sara's research brings together leading global experts. This collaborative work helps us to:
We support the government with its ambition for hydrogen and liquid fuels. Barriers such as technical, regulatory, societal and financial ones still remain.
We are now accelerating understanding of the energy pathway for hydrogen integration. Through our EPSRC Hub on Hydrogen Integration for Accelerated Energy Transitions we are:
The Centre for Energy has vision of unified efforts and raised ambitions on energy systems. In doing so, we provide evidence to government about how best to optimise systems, technologies, processes and policy.
This is a critical time in the country’s efforts to decarbonise and tackle climate change. Through our work in hydrogen, we are a key part of this policy ecosystem.
